How to Add Comment Box to a Website

This post includes a guide on how to add comment box in WordPress for posts that you will create in the future and on previously published posts and pages.

Comments are a very important part of a website:

  • they build trust
  • comments are good for SEO
  • and they help you understand your audience better

Adding comments box to your website’s posts and pages will take you only 10 minutes to do and below I explain how you can do that.

 

How to Enable Comments in WordPress Posts


This applies only to posts that you will create in the future. In the WordPress Dashboard go to Settings, then select Discussion, as shown in the picture below.

This will open a table. In the first section of this table, “Default article settings“, uncheck the first two boxes and make sure that the third box, Allow people to post comments on new articles is checked.

Scroll down and click Save changes.

How to Add Comment Box to a WebsiteIn the Dashboard, go to Posts, All Posts. Put the cursor under the name of the post in which you want to enable comments and click on Quick edit.

In the table that opens, make sure that the box Allow Comments is checked.

Then, click the button Update which is in the right corner of the table.

 

How to Add Comment Box on Previously Published Pages


It has the same procedure as for adding comment box on previously published posts, just that instead of selecting All Posts, you should select All Pages. In the Dashboard, go to Pages, All Pages and click on Quick edit under the title of the page in which you want to add comment box.

In the table that opens, make sure that the box Allow Comments is checked.

Then, click Update.

 

SUMMARY

One of the things that you need to do when you create your website is to enable comments for the pages and posts that you will create in the future. Below is summarized what you need to do:

    What a very clear informative post you have created. Thanks, great info.

    It took me a while to figure out using quick edit for selecting comments to appear on pages. It’s set by default on posts in my version of WordPress.

    The comments section is so important for receiving high rankings in the Search Engines.
    Search Engines love interaction. If you receive comments for all your posts your website will simply get a boost from this method.
